INTERNET 101 What to look for in a web hosting company and top web host provider: As you know, a web host is nothing more than a landlord. And, most landlords do nothing but collect rent. They do not provide any services for you. They all pretty much have the same things available (e.g., a roof, 4 walls, a floor, and a door). In hosting terms that equates to e-mail accounts, space, bandwidth, and autoresponders, etc. We offer all of those things, but we also provide statistics for you that give you the information you need to intelligently administer your site, and very importantly - help if you need it. We are the hosting company that goes above and beyond the expected. We have customers that don't even have computers, and we call them when they receive an important e-mail - or fax it to them. In every way possible we support our customers, with your success as our goal. What About 99¢ per year hosting, with unlimited disc space, and unlimited bandwidth? There are ridiculous deals all the time. What these people do, is they stuff so many websites on their server, that it doesn't matter how much space or bandwidth they offer you - you won't be able to benefit from it because the server is too slow to handle its load. Don't be fooled by a fast signup page - those companies never host their own websites on one of those servers. So, what do you look for? Look for whether a company is telling you the whole truth, look for the holes in their sale - and look for a company that will stand behind you. |
